Last year topics
The topics of the last year SUMTRAIC reflects the various and advanced fields of research of the IPP Prague and have included:
- Transport barrier formation in GOLEM circular plasmas
- Spectroscopic measurements during the transport barrier formation on GOLEM
- Determination of chronological order of events in disruption signals based on causality studies
- Effect of sensor measurement errors on the accuracy of magnetic equilibrium reconstruction
- Study of runaway electron generation and confinement
Similar topics will be available this year, depending on the scientific program selection. The final list of topics for this year SUMTRAIC will be adapted to the number of participants and will be released at the beginning of the school

SUMTRAIC 2024 constituted undoubtedly one of the most phenomenal experiences of my life, as it gave me the opportunity to delve deeply into the field of Plasma Physics and conduct research alongside a team of passionate scientists, in an actual laboratory environment, for my very first time. Specifically, during this two-week journey, I had the privilege of performing spectroscopic analysis on the GOLEM tokamak, thus significantly enhancing my Python programming skills, as well as my collaborative and public speaking abilities. Finally, this program gifted me some lifelong friendships, plenty of kofola, and the chance to explore Prague - which is honestly one of the most stunning cities I’ve ever visited! I am truly grateful for this life-changing experience! I highly recommend it!

My experience at SUMTRAIC 2024 has been great. The unique feature of this school is the fact that it is focused on hands-on projects rather than lectures. This makes it much more interactive, fun and challenging. Carrying out a small project for two weeks and then presenting it in front of an audience of experts allows you to deeply learn about the topic, but also to acquire important skills useful for a researcher career, such as teamwork, communication, and public speaking. Everything was very well organized; the organizers and the supervisors were always available and very helpful. The atmosphere was friendly. Side activities, such as a city tour and a few dinners, made the experience even more interesting and varied. The school is also an occasion to meet other young researchers and students who share your interest in fusion physics and it is always inspiring to exchange ideas and thoughts with them. Moreover, Prague is a beautiful city, the food and beer are delicious, and people are very nice.
