Sumtraic is an exellent experience for any up and coming fusion scientist. It gives you a chance to be in the control room on a working day of the tokamak and be involved with the collection and analysis of real scientific data. The week is excellently structured to help you learn and use the IT systems in order to perform your world leading scientific studies. There is also plenty of oppertunity to socialise with other colleagues there for the event, and all the staff at the institute are very friendly and welcoming, making the work and social aspects of the week very enjoyable! Plus, Prague is beautiful, and the beer is excellent!

In the world of summer schools, there are usually those that are all about working, and those meant only for fun. SUMTRAIC, however, does a great job of combining the two. In the two weeks of challenging and exciting research, done under the guidance of experienced and knowledgeable mentors, I got to see both the scientific and the human side of fusion. With the people whom I have met in Prague, I expect to have long lasting friendships and companionships, unparalleled to any I had made on past courses. There is not much more a physics student can ask for - wonderful people, in a marvelous place, doing what they know best passionately and excitedly.

As a BSc student I was afraid of not being enough for the summer school. But after two amazing weeks I see that the number of years you spend at the university does not matter and that the only important thing is how motivated you are and how big is your interest in this topic. In addition to learning and experiencing a lot during my time there, I have met many wonderful people. These people, let's call them my friends, made these weeks unforgettable. From now on, when I think of Prague, not only beer will come to my mind, but the COMPASS tokamak and SUMTRAIC.

SUMTRAIC gave me the great opportunity to participate in an experimental campaign of a fusion reactor. COMPASS, in fact, despite being a small tokamak, runs important experiments in view of ITER. Also, Prague is a beautiful capital, with a very efficient (and cheap!) public transport, very good food and beer! The Summer School was very well organized, with its research activities, where we were split in groups depending on our previous experience, and the social part of the stay: a city tour and COMPASS staff T-shirts! I really want to thank Jordan for organizing the event (I also had troubles with the start and end date and he managed to help me participating) and Tomas (my supervisor) for his precious insights on tokamak physics and on the preparation of a nice presentation

I would like to thank the COMPASS staff for the organization of this excellent summer school! It was really good to work with my supervisors and, of course, with my best teammate Lili. I think my knowledge about probes for plasma diagnostic became stronger. Now, I know how to measure heat flux from plasma with BPP and LP and what is SWEPT LP. Of course, data analysis and visualization on Python become closer to me, in addition of many other things I learned here. I am very glad to new acquaintances. Now I have more friends. And I am happy about it. All the participants in this school were wonderful. Prague is a very old and beautiful town. I liked that I had the opportunity to spent time walking and looking around. These two weeks were fertile and eventful. A very useful school for becoming a scientist.

For me SUMTRAIC was a real scientific experience combining programming and observing how tokamak works with learning new things from a theoretical point of view. I appreciate great help from everyone, especially programming in MATLAB. I am glad that the project was on something interesting with possibility to be useful for my later career, even though it was very difficult to tackle for me at the beginning. Also at the end I liked the final presentations despite it was definitely the hardest part of the job for me.

SUMTRAIC 2019 was the perfect end to my summer holidays! In 2 weeks you have the opportunity do go really into debt in a fusion topic and work with a real and advanced tokamak. You are surrounded by experts that are happy to help and guide you. Not only that but they also make you feel welcome and explore Prague with you! I feel very lucky for participating in such a great experience! I got to know experts in the field, apply my fusion knowledge, learn more about python and made friends around the globe! A special thanks to the organizer Jordan for always being in such a good mood!
